When I first got my campervan it came installed with round LED spotlights that are fairly harsh and as a result of changing my layout, they were also in the wrong place.
So I had an idea to create a lighting strip that ran all the way round the vans ceiling.
I purchased a 12v LED light strip from Amazon as per the one below:
These don't include a power adapter which wasn't needed as I'll be using the leisure battery for power.
I also used a couple of lengths of 90 degree angle beading to mount the led light too.
First I stripped out the old LED lights and wires. This was a fairly simple process and using a suction cup from the thermal blinds you can twist those old LED lights our easily.
I re-used a couple of the old lights for under the kitchen cupboard. There's also a light inside the cupboard that I wired up to a micro switch that operated when the cupboard was opened.
The wooden beading helps hold the LED strip at a nice angle and meant I could glue some supports onto it and simple wedge it under the lip of my pop top surround.
After the beading is sprayed and pushed into place I simply peel the back off the light strip and stick to the beading.
Another extra that I think is important when installing lighting circuits is to have extra switches to control different lights so you have more control over the 'mood' of your van lighting.
The power for the lights was already in place with a 12v feed that came down in the corner to feed the old lights.
This was a fairly simple upgrade and the difference was awesome! the light was more diffused rather than the old stark lighting before.
Thanks for reading!
