Hi my name is Ian and I love campervans and enjoying the outdoors. I currently own a Mazda Bongo campervan which is a unique Japanese van ideal for converting. I make YouTube videos about campervan hacks and tips!
We have 2 children so a lot of planning (and constant evolutions) goes into making a small van work for us.
I own a 2003 2ltr Mazda Bongo Friendee (also known as a Ford Freda) campervan.
I think any campervan becomes a part of your family as you generally use them for leisure purposes, so they can remind you of fantastic memories that you and your family share together.
I've always loved campervans, but my family never owned one. We did however camp all the time in our trusty 70s tent with my brother and sister.
My first taste of campervans came whilst on a trip to Australia!
My wife and I decided to ditch our jobs, take a year out and head 'down under'. It was here that we bought our first van in Perth and then drove it the long way round Australia to Sydney. This little blue van was amazing and we actually converted it with the help of a local farmer on the way!
This ignited the flame for travel and campervans, although it would be a few years later after we came back to the UK that we bought our Mazda Bongo.
I'm not really one to leave things as they are if they don't work out, I like to get the tools out and start modifying. This can seem daunting at first, but with some careful planning (and a dose of luck) you can create something that works for you.
This will become evident as you watch my videos :)
